Well I've been wanting to put one of these on the shelf for a long time so I guess this is as good an excuse as any. I'd say this is about as unstarted as you can get. Hoping to put in some serious bench time tomorrow.

Well I promised updates after my marathon session Saturday. It didn't quite work out as planned. I did get the body primed with a good 2K urethane primer. I've come to the conclusion that that has been the culprit to my many painting problems as of late. I had been trying some new at least to me primers and they just weren't working out. So anyway I've gone to the primer that the manufacturer of the basecoat /clear coat recommends and it seems the problems have disappeared. After drying overnight I laid down the white basecoat and Monday some clear with just a little pearl mixed in it. Today I cleaned up all the small hiccups and am letting it dry overnight. I'm going to apply the decals that go under the clear tomorrow and then put the final clear coats on. Hopefully I'll have some pictures in the next couple of days to show the progress. I've also been detailing a lot of the small parts while this has been going on but here again not much to see until the assembly gets a little further along.

Yeah, but the big thing is you at least got some stuff done. That's progress and that's a good thing.

OK got a few photos of the latest work on this one Primed body basecoat white red stripes and light pearl mid coat Painted signage and final clear coats I'd just like to state the obvious - I LOVE SLIXX DECALS !!! - A lot of polishing, a few contingency decals and some minor detailing and I'll have a body In the meantime I have been working on parts and subassemblies - photos of some of that soon I hope

It's looking GREAT, Allen. Just really great. Looking forward to watching it come together now.
By the way. I just learned something about Grumpy. Do you know why the top of some of his cars was painted with the stripes? It was a jab at the Ramchargers MOPAR team. He started beating them consistently so put the stripes on the top to aggravate them. I just read that a couple nights ago in my new book, Junior Stock. I thought that was pretty cool.
Keep up the great work on this one.

Actually I have that book but must have missed that or more likely forgot I read it. Thanks I'm ready to see it start coming together too!
