Yeah, George, I know I got a '37 Chevy from you. Now, you guys might all get a good laugh out of this, but I'll explain my thinking anyway. The kit I got from you, George, is a '37 Chevy, no doubt, but it is the one pictured here. The decals are for a "Hubbard Engineering" car. The car done by David is "The Gas Master". I know they are definitely different releases of the same kit, but to me they are different kits. Since I really like gassers I would like to have both kits built at some point. Displayed, they would be different cars, for sure. So in my way of thinking, I don't have the kit David built. By the way, George. The kit I got from you must have been given a really rough ride on the way to me. The rear axle is broken and the ends are broken off. Also, the front suspension got really broken up. Both leaf springs are broken and then the ends/shackles are broken off the frame. It's all fixable, but not by me until I get quite a bit of experience under my belt.

That;s odd, you sent me an email when you got that batch of kits and told me everything was great. What'd ya do, drop it? And it IS the same kit, just a different decal sheet and box. The parts are identical to the one David built. If you don't think you can fix it, send it my way. I'll have it ready in a week------unless you drop it again and it may take two weeks.

I didn't think it was worth mentioning back when I got the kits. It was obviously bounced around by an overzealous postal employee. The fact that there was minor damage to it wasn't a big concern. It's still not a big concern. I just have to wait until I've developed my building skills to start in on it. I may just watch evilbay for the right suspension parts and buy some new stuff to put under the car. I think that would be a better solution for me than attempting to repair the broken pieces. If you asked me again today about the stuff I received, I'd still say everything was OK. It would take a heck of a lot more damage than that to be a major concern for me. And , it IS the same kit to probably everybody else in the world. But because of the different decals, it's a different kit to me. I know, I'm a bit weird that way. Nobody has EVER accused me of being normal and conventional. Once I get done building the 2 different kits I'll have a yellow colored "Hubbard Engineering" car and an orange (or whatever color that is) and white "Gas Master" car. That's two different cars to me, therefore I figure it as two different kits. Hey, I'm a little different. I got kicked out of calculus class in high school the first day of every month because the teacher and I had an ongoing battle over the fact that 1 + 2 does not equal 3. Never has and never will, and I can prove it. She got mad because she was never able to prove that it DOES equal 3. Hey, I'm just a little different.

David, I want to apologize for hijacking your thread. I should have moved my comments and conversations to a new thread. Hope you'll forgive me.

Well David, I have the original 67 issue of that old kit stashed away, guess I will have to get it out and build one to line up with ya! That old kit has its short comings but I like it. If we can prod Steve into finishing the one he got from me, we can have a '37 shootout. I am not sure if I will finish the garb on the work bench or use my arm to rake it all in the trash bin. Gonna flip a coin and see which way I go, I'll keep ya posted.

I ordered two. I do have the Cabriolet version but never could decide whether to do a custom or a high school hot rod.

Ya know Paul, I don't know how many times I built both kits through the years but I never did build one as a custom with all those kool six banger parts. I gotta do one some day but its anybody's guess as to when. Oh yeah, I almost forgot-------------------
Steve! Steve! Steve! Steve!

Sorry, guys. I'll have to refuse the offer to get in on this one. I really do have two kits strung out on my bench. I haven't done a lot with either one yet, but I'm started on these two and I'm not going to switch again. I've had a dozen or so kits opened for my "first" build these past few months and something keeps coming along to change my mind. I've got to stick to the two I have chosen now. Sorry.

WaaaHaaaaHaaaaa!!! Oh, you got me good, David. Nope, no photos yet, but I will tell you that the two kits on the bench are the AMT '68 Shelby I'm doing for the "50 Years" build and the Revell "American Dreams" Challenger I picked up recently. I figured puttering along on the Challenger build would allow me to take lots of time with the Shelby. Since I don't have to do anything on the body of the Challenger I can concentrate on the engine and interior of it. The Shelby will receive attention as I feel more confident in each aspect and phase of building. The bottom line on my taking so danged long to build a kit is that I have a slight (or more) obsessive compulsive thing. I once refused to wash and wax one of my cars because some dimwit put a door ding right in the middle of the driver's door. In my mind there was no use in washing and waxing because it was no longer "perfect". I'm the same way with a lot of things I do. Even in my business of repairing PCs. A lot of times I would do extra work on the computer just because I knew I could make some changes and make it run so much better. I once decided to COMPLETELY rewire and reroute all the routers and switches in the server room of the college where I was the tech. Over time things had gotten a little too "messy" for me so I ripped every piece of Cat5 out and started routing them in a nice neat manner. Thankfully I had enough foresight to wait to do it on Christmas break. I had a few problems after I fired everything back up, but everything was 100% when classes started after the break. You see? OC.
