Dang. You've got a whole bunch of this one done already. Looking real good too, I might add.

I've got three nights into it and maybe I'll give it one more and then it'll sit for a week of nights while I finish off a few others that are at that stage. I never build one model at a time (just can't seem to do that!) so I always have a handful of them at various stages.

AW Right! You got this one starting to look fine already. One of my many favorite drivers!! I've just started this one myself but you're way ahead of me right now. I've got 3 old glue bombs of the old clear body '69 Mustang. Hopefully I can save enough parts from all 3 to build one of the Mr Gasket kit out of after I finish this one. I'd really like to do a complete set of his cars. Keep up the good work you give me hope that I can get to all of these projects I have floating around in my head someday! HA HA

Thanks for the heads up about this being a "fiddly" kit to build. Great idea with the magnets too.

Thanks for letting us know about the fit problems. I agree cool idea about the magnets. I remember the original was kind of messed up too. I was hoping the new front end would fit better. Does look good though. I'm just wondering if scratch building a set of sturdier hinges might work

It's worse that that Allen. It's almost like the front end and the body are different scales and are different plastic! You couldn't hold the two pieces up in mid-air with nothing under them and make them look "seamless" so it's not about scratch-building better hinges.

Well that sucks! sounds like the simplest solution might be to build it as a shelf model and mount the front end permanently just so I'll have one in my ohio George collection we'll see. thanks again for the heads up!

Believe me, I'm about there myself! Just glue the body together and get out the putty and the sanding sticks and see if I can't make this look like "one" dog instead of "two" dogs! As it stands (and maybe forever), the best way to display it is with the nose flipped up. Heck, maybe that's the way it was intended!

Actually I've got I believe a Hot Rod magazine. with an article of this car and the front end is flipped up and so is the body so that you can see the details on the headliner and door panels etc. Replicating that photo might be the way to go for me anyway! Like I said take a lemon and make some lemonade! LOL

Many years ago I built that kit and later I built a second. If IRC the first one was red on the box art and the front was different from the second with the blue car. Some of the pieces were different but that has been so many years ago I don't remember all the details. Glad I read this and glad I didn't spring for the re issue. I had the Maverick in the stash for years and finally sold it to some guy that didn't think he could live without it. I reckon if I want to do a Ohio George car I'll do another Willys. I have an original issue and figure it is about time it got built.

Willy's all the way Gloozalot! I have been looking at a lot of old 1:1 photos of this Mustang on the Internet and the front end never fit worth a darn in real life either! So I'll just get it done and stick it in the back of one of the cabinets and run away from it. . . fast!
