..... while the big blown Chrysler powered gassers were a kick to watch, most of the gas class rigs I saw in my 14 years of racing were powered by Hilborn injected small block Chevrolets ...... and while the speeds and ET's were slower, the racing was just as good if not better ..... this little C/G rig was built from a Revell "Big John" kit

Here we go! That's a real race car! Very nicely done. I hadn't really thought about it, but you're right. I do recall an awful lot of Chevy powered gassers around the tracks I was at. Both big and small blocks. Thinking back on it, I also recall an awful lot of early Camaro gassers on the strips in the early to mid 70s, and I do seem to remember a lot of those cars being injected small blocks. Nice little reminder and history lesson! But a Willys, a '55 Chevy, or an Anglia would still be first choice for a gasser build.
