Near Death and resurection of a Funnycar

So I started to build the White Bear Dodge Charger. Painted the chassis orange and looked at the Slixx decals and decided to to the body. The color WAS Tangelo Pearl. WAS an orange chassis. Well here at the biggest pieces of the decals, the literally exploded in the water! New are no longer available.

So now the body was close to wall stickum, but my wife's saner head prevailed. Put a light coat of Candy Hot Pink over the Tangelo a mist coat of Yellow Candy and make it Raspberry Candy. So now it is Raspberry Candy, the chassis is now Black Lacquer and the build is back on as a different Secret Funny. Gee a 20 year old kit and 20 year old decals what could have gone wrong the first time.

Well, if nothing else, that's a great color. Sorry to hear of the problem, but I'm betting whatever you've got in store will result in another killer build.

Gosh I don't know. Do you reckon there's a conspiracy to get rid of all traces of the White Bear Dodge history. Sumpin smells bear poopy to me! Nice save tho

It's 1/25 Revell 71 to 73 Charger that was sold as a no decal kit in conjunction with Slixx.

I thought Slixx had those decals currently and that there were several sites out there that had them? I know Slixx, Mike's and Whoopie Kat all show they have them. I've had a bunch explode on me in the past and nothing makes your heart sag more than seeing the pieces drift around on the water laughing at you!  Now I put a new coating on my decals first thing.

Slixx were made for the Revell body, the problem with Slixx when I talked to them was what they have in stock is all they have and no idea when they were run off, any where between 2000 and no later than 2012. I don't want a W.B.D. that bad. The one I'm doing now is even a more rarely seen F/C.

Ah man! So sorry! Old thread but I’ve been there.
I have started just making a copy of whatever decal I plan to use and having em as backup. One thing you can do also if you don’t want to go through all the reprinting is clear the sheet a few days before. That has stopped any surprise decal explosions for me!

Great idea! I seem to have had issues with any Slixx decals with a lot of white on it. Paul
