That sounds good, David. I'd say any of Ohio George's cars should probably be a Hometown Hero. Nope, I misspoke. After consideration and a little Internet help, it seems that Ohio George's Mustangs would not be allowed. They have full fiberglass bodies and chassis from '33 Willys. And thanks to my Internet research man! I appreciate it, guy.

Well if it's okay, I'll just keep building what I build and enjoy it. Maybe somewhere along the line I'll stumble onto some build that fits the rules for one of the Contests. In the meantime, I'll just "build on!"

Sorry, David. I'm sure not trying to pick on you. I set the rules up and feel like I have to be true to what has been laid out. The last thing I want to do is reduce the number of cars entered in one of our contests. There is a LONG time before the "1968" contest is over. Maybe you could keep your eyes open for a '68 kit and jump in the contest in a month or two.
I sure feel bad, but if I start making exceptions to the rules then I might as well throw the rules out. And, once again, I say to all members of this forum. The forum and the contests are for you guys. If the majority of members prefer different rules, or less rules, then all you guys need to do is tell me.

No problemo! Mostly those are to get folks involved and at their bench and I do not have that problem! I just enjoy the hobby and I crank out 10 or more a year without the kick-start so I'll be fine! Thanks again!

Hmmm. You had to throw that one out there. I don't see how we could allow them in this contest. If we did, we would most certainly have to allow the Ohio George Mustang. Fiberglass is fiberglass. Right? Now, here is the thing. It seems the fiberglass versus all steel thing is a real kink in the chain on these two contests. So we're gonna have us a short, 5 day vote on whether to scrap the all steel requirement for BOTH contests and rewrite that rule to say that the body must be all original, or have been restored with "same look" parts, with the intent to be that the finished car must very closely resemble the factory production car. Does that make sense to you guys? If so, cast your vote now! And if you are confused by what the new rule would be, do NOT hesitate to contact me direct. I want everybody to completely and fully understand everything. Maybe we can resolve this issue quickly and peaceably. OK. Poll is up. I let it run an extra day and a half since it's Saturday. Voting ends next Friday night, at midnight.

Well, guess my Corvette and Avanti Idea is out. As far as the hometown hero thing, my hometown didn't have a squirt racing track. All my hometown heroes turned left while going fast. Guess I will have to think about this thing a little more.

Check it out on the contest page.

I'm in on the "Hometown Hero". Since I chose the Ramchargers kit for winning the last build it is fitting that it is my choice. Since I live 5 houses from Ferndale, a mile from Woodward, and a mile and a half from what was Hodges Dodge they were hreos to me growing up.

This is exactly the drive I need to get into this one. Although a cross country move is in the works for my family and I . I may have to at least try to get to the model bench

Safe to assume this and the other contest are no longer going on?

The Home Town Hero's ended June 30, one entry, no responses, extensions or any actions by the powers that be.

I just happened to see this. Sorry, but I haven't been reading through the forums like I had been. As for the contest that ended June 30th, there was only one person interested in it so I figured everybody had just let it go. The other contest that runs through the end of the year is pretty much up to you guys. The forum is Tim's now, so maybe he will let you all know the status of the contest.
