I think I'm going to try to enter a car in both contests . Hopefully I'm not taking on more than I can chew?? As my local hero I'm going to get about as local as you can get. I'm going to do my older brother's 1967 GTX 440 4 barrel automatic car that he bought new down in Florida in "67. It ran in E/ Stock Automatic when he wasn't doing a little not quite legal street racing with it. It was that factory copper color they had back then with black stripes and he had the name the SOUTHERN GENTLEMAN all the way down the side of it in old English lettering. He had the engine built by one of the hot builders down there at the time. Added Cragars and some 7" cheater slicks. It was actually pretty competitive at first he said until S&M built theirs and bombed the record. I've got all the details about the car in a email that I printed out several years ago and 1 poor photo of the car sitting on the beach in Daytona. I'll find it and post it up in the next couple of days here. This is the same brother that furnished me with most of my models as I was growing up and carried me to my 1st drag race. So I guess you could say he was my hero. I've been wanting to build a model of this car for years and I'm sure he would be proud that I chose this car to do.

All right! That's the kind of Hometown Hero I've been thinking. Can't wait to see it come together. Are you talking about the "root beer" color?

Kind of maybe LOL I actually mixed a half pint of the original paint while I was still at NAPA so I'll make sure I list the name and number for it when I pull it out.
