I am recording an episode of Mecum Auction at Indianapolis. The reason I wanted to see it and record it was that they were going to run 4 lightweight Ford Galaxies through and I wanted to see what they brought, as well as get a good look at the cars for when I build my lightweight Fords. There was a '62, a 63, and two '64s - one with a 4 speed and one with an automatic. Great looking cars and all brought 6 figures, as I recall. The surprise I got was when they ran 6 Hemi MOPARs through. All of them were just immaculate. The surprise was a Plum Crazy, 1970 Challenger R/T with a 426 Hemi and 4 speed with pistol grip. The car had a black vinyl top and black interior with dog dish wheel covers. What was different was that it had a Hemi Shaker Hood. Only 5 were produced. The announcers said that the Shaker Hood was standard on the Hemi 'Cudas, but an option on Hemi Challengers, therefore only 5 got produced. So I'm going to try getting several photos off the TV for reference. If I can't do that I'm just going to keep the recorded show until I'm ready to build a Challenger. I want to replicate that exact car. Totally awesome. Well, doggies! I just did a search for that car on Mecum and found the web page with all the details and 20 photos. Hot dog! I've got reference photos now. Here is the link. www.mecum.com/lots/SC0518-326864/1970-dodge-hemi-challenger-rt/Here is a link to the page with all 6 of the MOPARs on it as well as the 4 lightweight Fords.
