I've been watching eBay and a couple other places for one of the AMT Vanishing Point kits at a price I could live with and hadn't found one. I happened to see this kit with a "Best Offer" option so made a low offer. I got an immediate counter offer that was 50 cents higher than I had in mind. Can't very well argue over 50 cents so I ended up with this for just over 20 bucks delivered to the door. That works for me!

Ouch! This thing showed up just as I was about to leave this morning to head to the VA. I just sat it in the man cave and left. I opened it up just a little while ago. It was supposed to be "New". Well, guess what? That's right. Not new. It had been opened and all the plastic bags were gone. It appears all the parts are there so no biggie with that.
The real butt kicker is that somebody pulled the clear, plastic bubble protecting the body up and obviously slid the body out. That would have been OK, but they removed whatever tape that held the hood down. So the hood bounced and jiggled all over the tops of the fenders for the full ride by the USPS. So the fenders and the underneath side of the hood have scratches and discoloration on them. It's going to be fun matching that white!
Then I also noticed some marks on the top of the body and all over the trunk deck. I used a little wax and a rag on one of them and it came off. It looks like coffee stains, but who would know what it is for sure. I'm treating it like radioactive waste. I ain't touching a stain like that! LOL!!!

Sounds like a 62 Pontiac I bought a few years ago. NEW in Shrink Wrap. Opened the box and parts were painted and some assembly done and all packed in tissue paper. But it WAS shrink wrapped. The sellers excuse was "it must have been a factory mistake"

Hah! I wonder which one of those factory employees was able to paint and assemble parts while the assembly line was moving.
