Here are the revisions to the "1968" contest. I liked the concept of celebrating 50 years so we are staying with that. But, I decided to go with a more open format to enhance the possibilities of more participants.
"1968 - Celebrating 50 years"
1) The subject of this contest will be any vehicle that was factory produced during the 1968 model year.
2) The finished car must fit into one of the recognized drag racing classes, but can be any recognized drag racing sanctioning body. ie, NHRA, AHRA, etc. The class can be period correct from any year that sanctioning body was in existence, including current classes.
3) Any classification of race car from any era, I.E., Super Stock, Gasser, Funny Car, Pro Mod, Street Outlaw, etc. As long as the body style is from 1968 your entry is good.
4) Each entry must be a new build. No partially started builds or rebuilds. Let's get some of those unstarted projects off the shelf and onto the workbench.
5) This is an all out, no holds barred contest. There will be no limit to the amount of customizing you apply, including 3rd party parts (plastic and resin) and scratch-building.
6) The contest period begins now, and continues until the 15th of January, 2019. We decided to extend the end of year to the middle of January to alleviate problems with any Holiday vacation or other plans you might have.
7) Voting will begin immediately following the termination of the build period. I think we’ll shorten the voting period to either 7 or 10 days.
Enter as many entries as you prefer. With this timeline there should be ample time for folks to participate. There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the voting. Prizes will be announced at a later time but I can say that from my own personal stash I will be providing some resin, decals and a kit or two.
Don't feel intimidated if you choose not to go all out with any extra added detail. An out of the box build has every possibility of winning as an extreme detail build has. It's all in the overall build and presentation.
Post your in progress builds in the contest section. Just start your own post for each build. All finished builds will be posted in the completed thread which I have left up. For each entry please post a pic of the unstarted model first.
Any questions or clarifications, please ask.
