I've been torn re the subject I'm asking about. I'm trying to decide, when putting a strut or coil-over shock high-end pkg together, what would be the most desireable, so I'm turning to you to get some input (hopefully!)...
If you could purchase a nice, detailed set of coil-over shocks or struts, and you had a choice, would you prefer springs that are paintable to whatever color you wish or that are made of stainless steel and have a high luster chrome-appearing finish? The SS versions would probably cost $1.50 more/pr.
Let me know your choice, or if you have related thoughts... Thanks. Scott

I think it would depend on the application they're being used for. Some builders may want the painted version while others may want the polished stainless ones instead.

I wonder how well stainless would paint? Of course, for the extra money, it wouldn't be the logical thing to do. Unfortunately, I can't afford to stock three or four different spring choices for the kind of money it would cost to get a decent price break... :-( Thanks for your feedback! SP

The paintable ones could be painted to look like steel with Alclad etc

I used to own a tranmission repair shop before I sold it and retired. I use the springs that come in a certain Ford Transmission shift kit. I can paint them to be whatever color I choose. I have built several drag cars in my life and know that different spring suppliers use different paint. Blue, Black, Red and Gold seem to be the favorites. So I would want something that could be painted.

Okay - Thanks guys. From your all's feedback, it looks like paintable is definitely the way to go on springs... Thanks for your input! Scott

All depends on the manufacture. All chrome is an option on most.
