Have any of you ever used this paint and if you did, how well did it work? I bought a few bottles of different colors a few years ago on sale and have never used them. They are all the lacquer buffing airbrush type.

Almost every one of my builds features the use of many different colors of Testors metalizers. It is a much easier product to use than Alclad and cheaper as well. Goes on great every time.

Thanks Wayne. One more question for now. Since this is the lacquer paint, can I use Dupli-Color clear lacquer over it? I have some of the clear that I added flatener too and it should give me the low sheen effect that I want.

I have some of the clear that I added flatener too and it should give me the low sheen effect that I want. Some of the colors can be buffed to a decent shine, like the Aluminum Plate and Stainless Steel colors, but most clears that I have tried have dulled any shine that was acheived. If that's what you are looking for then you're all set.

Thumb- if you're new to metalizers then you're in for a treat buddy! Most of these that you'll find are a true lacquer clear base with pulverized metal for the "pigment" and they work beautifully. An idea you might try is blending these different shades for some unique colors and tints. I use a laquer clear for the base and go from there and I've come up with some great combos. Metal color "paints" pale in comparison to how these metalizers finish out. Most can be polished...or at least buffed and pairing the polishing process with polishing powders can lend some killer results. The finishes you can get with these are limited only to what you can imagine buddy! . To give an example, the body panels on this top fueler are all metalizers- airbrused on then polished. Definitely a different look eh? As far as brushing these on- yep you sure can but bear in mind that they perform best when applied very (very) lightly. Brushing it on will work, but it's a "heavy" coating and won't polish or buff very well. Sometimes brushing is the only alternative, so you gotta do what you gotta do right? Hope this helps bud~
