OK guys, got a question and maybe someone would know the answer. There is some kind of gauge just behind the hood in front of the driver and it is white. I was thinking it was the tach but there is one on the dash also. Does anyone know what it could be? Here's a pic of the car showing it and also a pic of interior showing both.

My thoughts (for what they are worth)it is either an oil pressure gauge or a fuel pressure gauge. Both would be important to the driver. And since it looks to be "hard-lined" rather than an electronic pick-up it would be outside the cockpit for safety reasons. HTH.

, thats what i would say. it is a liquid filled gauge and if something went wrong, you dont want all that hot liquid spraying all over the driver. liquid filled gauges are more accurate than electric ones.... dont really know about that. i have fuel pressure, oil pressure and water temp on the cowl of my car.

Thanks guys, I'll just say it's an oil pressure gauge then.

Back in this era it wasn't unusual to see the oil pressure gauge mounted out on the cowl.

Man, I was racing back then and I never seen anything like that but then again, I didn't pay any attention to the other cars, I was busy taking care of mine or...ummm...uhhhh, looking at the Jungle Pams

It is a fuel pressure gauge; they weren't allowed inside the car, most mounted them right in front of line of sight to see what pressure was thru the lights ( if it dropped to low, starved engine).

It is a fuel pressure gauge. Back then we did not have the isolated gauges that will allow them to be mounted in the car.

Thanks guys, now I know at least what it is if someone asks me when they see it on my build.
