Really cool build. I love Bug racers, they have that mad bumblebee sound when they go ripping down the strip. VW's used to be cheap to buy and to build, now like everything else they are way over priced. Anyway, I really like this one.

I seen one at the track one weekend and it had a rotary engine in it and was turning 10's which at the time was remarkable, I thinkit was around 1970 or so. As far as bugs, I owned a 1960 that got 30mpg which as a high school student, was great, fill an empty tank up for about $3.50 which I made my buddies pay for half of it.

I had a '71 Type III, my pop and I stuffed in a Porsche 911E engine and transaxle in it. Used to challenge any V-8 Muscle with it in 1976 usually for a $100.00 Lost once to a Motion V8 Vega. Got some pics of it some where. A side from the flared rear wheel openings and the 15x8 Chevy Rally rear wheels it looked pretty normal.
