I was not sure where to place this as it is vintage but also sorta a work in progress. So here goes……Some years ago, when I was a kid, I went ape crazy over the AMT double dragster kit. Then I found their 61 Buick wagon on a shelf and had to have that to go with the double kit. You remember, the one with the trailer, engine and tools? Well, I wore those out pushing them around in the floor---Come on, I was 10 or 11. Don't tell me some of you guys didn't do that too, be honest. Years later I wanted those kits again but didn't want to fork over the $$ they were going for at the time. When AMT released the double kit in the Blueprinter series I jumped on one and also picked up a Johan 61 Olds F-85 wagon on the cheap. I built the wagon in the Pit support style and scratched out a utility trailer from a warped MPC trailer and sheet plastic. Ok, I am getting there. Then I built the Fiat like I did when I was a kid except I painted it this time and left off all the gloo smears and fingerprints. Face it, at 10 I gloo-bombed almost everything but it looked cool to me. Now, jump forward about 50+ years and I am just now getting my scene started. I found a base I like and will cover it to look like concrete, build some more equipment and add some figures and I will have what I wanted years ago. I know there is not much there at the moment but vision a pit scene around 1962 or so. You'll get the idea. The trailer carries a Desoto Engine with eight carbs so the team might swap engines and run a different class. I do now have the double kit in the tin that came about a few years back and an original mint 61 Buick wagon with all the goodies but I sure hate to build that for some reason. Maybe that tooling still exists and will come back some day. I want to do the dragster with the side by side engines as I never did do that version before. Look this mess over and maybe it will give you some ideas and maybe you can give me some too.
