Always liked the classic stock cars, especially when convertibles were run. You captured the look perfectly. Makes me want to drag out my '65 Ford and finish it. Paul

Thanks guys. This was a small challenge but I like how it turned out. I really like the old NASCAR's. All the new stuff's not my thing, all generic cars with stickers on them. From the mid 80's and back is what I like to see.

Thanks Steve. I just won a 63 Impala glue bomb on e-bay and I hope to transform it into the "Old Reliable IV" when I get it. I ordered the decals on e-bay also and I'm looking forward to rebuilding this car.

got a question for you Dan. The AMT 63 Impala is as you mentioned "not a great kit". Why not use the Revell kit. It's a much newer tool and therefore I would think a better kit. Just wondering why you prefer the AMT. I've never owned the Revell kit myself.

Well, the one I just won is an original kit and it's much better than all of the reissues, plus, it has the 409 in it where as the Revell kit has a small block. They're both good kits, I just like the original AMT kit. Nostalgia I guess.
Another little note: The originally kit has a pretty good 409 in it and it also has the firewall where as all the reissues don't have the firewall. The engines in the reissued kits are what I call "blobs". They do give you an insert to install on the chassis if you don't want to show the "blob" though. Now, I have used the parts from the 64 Impala kits to build the 63's because both kits have the same chassis, firewall and engine parts in them.
