About Tapatalk. Maybe I didn't make myself clear. I have a habit of that. What I meant was, can you post a photo that is hosted on Fotki into a thread you put up on a forum? . I did that plenty of times in the past.

OK, so you can post from third party hosting. You said earlier you weren't interested in another account to post pictures with, but it's either that or pay Proboards for additional storage space. If all the photos on the site right now were hosted on Proboards we would already be WAY over the 200 MB limit.
If I was to "purge" the photos after a certain length of time, I might as well just put time limits on the threads that automatically delete the thread. Sometimes the photos are essential to being sure the discussion is understood correctly. Beyond that, photos of the great builds we have are reason #1 for a lot of guys to even visit the forum. I happen to be one of the guys that REALLY enjoy the completed build photos. Even though I've been "back in the hobby" for a year and a half, I've yet to build the first kit, so I get really great ideas seeing the photos. I try and bookmark the ones that really grab my attention and that I happen to have kits of in my stash so I can revisit and refresh my old noggin.
Don't take me wrong. I'm not picking on you or trying to argue with you. I read every post and suggestion carefully and try to see how the suggestion would affect the forum overall. You've had a couple good ideas, but I can see where other members would have trouble with them. I'm trying really hard to find a solution that would suit the greatest number of members.
Sad to say, but as of right now it appears that some members are going to be adversely affected by whatever solution I end up implementing.

What if you ask the Mopars In Scale Admins how the deal with it?

I just sent a PM to Al. I'll hear back from him in a day or two, but I'm about 99% sure they don't allow direct uploads to the forum.
I also did my due diligence into the Tapatalk thing. Had to do some research to find out how you are able to just upload. You're not actually uploading to the forums you visit. When you upload a photo to a thread on a forum, you are actually uploading to Tapatalk's server. So you already have another "account" for hosting photos. It's with Tapatalk. That's a kind of dangerous game to play. The primary function of the app is NOT to host photos. It's to connect to multiple forums and allow you to connect with them in one place. At any time they could either stop hosting photos or begin charging for what has been free up until now. That's exactly what PhotoBucket did to all it's users. When it comes to my photos I much prefer using a paid hosting site. That gives me at least some security in knowing they aren't going to just stop hosting, and more than likely won't ever raise the pricing an unreal amount - maybe just a slight cost of business increase at some point. I pay $24 a year for hosting with Fotki. That's the price of one new kit. More than reasonable enough.
When I did the searching for Tapatalk, I found LOTS of hits to pages where forums were turning off the Tapatalk feature. Several places noted that Tapatalk made the forum run slower, was very insecure, and had caused other problems. I haven't noticed any real slowness on the forum, but can't speak to the security aspect since I haven't tried monitoring things that closely. Time will tell on that, I guess.
You might want to do some research into them hosting your photos. It would really tick me off if I lost all my photos. I know that.

I've already lost a ton of them on Photobucket, so if I lose them again, the initial pissedoffness has already subsided. And I've been using Tapatalk, incident free, on several forums, for several years now.
I rarely use our PC, so a forum friendly mobile app is very appealing to me. That being said, I back up my important photos to the PC every so often.

OK, I stand corrected. Al let me know that he is at least one that actually posts photos direct to MOPARs In Scale. So we know for sure they have the option to post direct left turned on. My next question for the guys over there is how they are managing the additional storage space needed.
Backing up your photos, or ANYTHING you think is important is a great idea. Most people never do it. I spent 30 years in the computing industry and witnessed dozens and dozens of cases where there was no backup and the computer crashed. I don't backup nearly as often as I should. I probably should do it right now, while I'm thinking about it.
I'm just the opposite on using the PC or the phone. That little, bitty screen on my phone makes my head hurt if I try and look at it too long. And I've noticed there can be serious lack of content on websites displayed on a phone versus the full site on a PC. eBay comes to mind first. The mobile site just has so much less content and options that I can't do crap on it. For instance; I usually search for "Accepts Best Offer" only deals. Unless I have just continually missed it, there is no way to do that search on the mobile site. Drives me nuts.
I'll update this as soon as I find out what they do over on M.I.S.

I'm going to post this here and as a new thread. I want to be sure and reach as many members as I can.
I have just been browsing through the images that have been posted directly to the forum and are part of the ProBoards file storage discussion. I discovered that the majority of the photos are actually in the old threads we left up on the "Tips, Techniques & Questions" board. I had decided to just leave those old threads there in case any of you wanted to browse through them looking for any tips or techniques.
So we now have a means of greatly reducing the photos in the ProBoards storage area. The question I need to pose to you members is: Would you prefer I leave the old threads up, or would you want me to delete all the old threads?
I'll leave this in your hands.

UPDATE:
OK. I just spent a little time going through some of the older threads on the "Tips, Techniques & Questions" board. I deleted just a few recent ones that I deemed no longer relevant. Then I deleted all threads from 2010 and before. That cleared up a bit of storage space for us. I'll try and get time to start with "60s Gasser" and work backwards when I have time. Once done, the forum will be cleaner and more up to date, and we'll have quite a bit more file storage available to us. Maybe it'll be enough that we won't have to worry about running out of space for a while.
