Headed to Galot Motorsports Park in Benson NC ( about 50 miles down 95 from the house) tomorrow and Saturday. They are filming one of the street outlaws races there this weekend. I'll try to get some good photos.

Wow guys ya'll have been busy this weekend - JUST IN - Monza Goes Turbo - He has built a new twin turbo car that still has his old 72 split bumper body on it but according to him it is all new underneath. And it is beautiful - He announced it and showed it for the first time this weekend but it wasn't ready to race. He said he would race it at the race next weekend in Oklahoma I think - check out the pictures and there is more on u tube I'm told - Great race great weekend - California Chris ( supercharged 67 Chevy II beat Birdman in the final all though that was kind of anti-climatic to everyone except California Chris of course. - Actually I was pleasantly surprised most of these guys were just down to earth old drag racers - I will never feel the same about Doc ever again. He is as nice a guy as I have ever met. nothing like on the show. - I got one of Monza shirts with the new car on it and I always have to help out the underdog so I bought one of Dominators. I always liked the looks of that car anyway even if the poor boy can't win a race. Enjoy the photos - there's almost 250 of them so we'll just send you to my fotki to look at them - I tried to get a lot of detail shots to hopefully help out someone with detailing a future project public.fotki.com/plasticaddict/drag-racing/street-outlaws/

Street? Street? What Street would this be? Wow! Times sure have changed. Our little town was kind of like the one in American Graffiti and "everybody" had hot cars. However, nobody was "out there" like these things! Sure, we had a cam, some headers, maybe some gears, traction bars. . . but good night, these things here are all-out race cars! Terrific pictures and like "smhardesty" said, "Datsa whole lotta money right there now!!"

..... there's nothing "street" about these cars ........ just as there was nothing "street" about Pat Musi's Firebird which was billed as the "World's Fastest Street Car" in 2001 when it turned a 6.701 at 210 mph while carrying a license plate from the state of South Carolina ........ it was a pure race car that they somehow got registered in South Carolina because of their loose registration requirements His previous Camaro, which also held the title, was nowhere near a street vehicle either

I totally agree! that's their title not mine. They did say they had to have a metal roof but then they filled out the field with pro mods.

I'm not pointing at you 70sprostockfan at all and I really dig the pictures. We still had to drive our cars to school and on dates and over to a buddy's house and out to the stock car races and things like that so they had to be somewhat practical. And, none of us were rich so when gas started hitting 27-30 cents a gallon, we had to be careful and "baby" things a little bit until the weekend. Just a totally different "street" scene in the '60's.

Oh no I understand what you were talking about. I have said from the first time I ever saw that show that there wasn't a street car in the bunch. Basically it's a bunch of professional racers that happen to do there racing on the street and even then they close the roads down for them now so they can film it. But hey it's a different world now than it was then and I guess street racing is no different. I know the illegal street racing scene around this part of the country has been like this for the last 20 or 25 years. Guys towing in their track cars to "street" race. But hey to each his own, it was still fun to watch!

Yeah, I think most of us on this forum have similar thoughts about the "Street Outlaws" cars and TV show. Most of us had cars we raced on the street back in the day and more than likely we all drove them daily to school, work, on dates, etc, etc. The cars on the various Outlaws TV shows are wicked hot rods, but not what any of us would call street machines. Some of those cars are 3000 horsepower or more and cost between $100,000 and $300,000. I got a little turned off trying to watch the TV shows, but this new "No Prep" show has my attention a little more. At least they aren't trying to sell the public on something that isn't true like the "Street Outlaws". The cars are serious, all out, drag racing cars. They are fun to watch like Allen said. If they had a "No Prep" race near enough to me I might even go watch them. Racing is racing, after all.

Yeah, I think most of us on this forum have similar thoughts about the "Street Outlaws" cars and TV show. I don't like any of those "street racing" or drag racing shows (like "Pinks All Out", etc.} ...... it's all scripted junk
