If some of you are like me, you have a cheap Gloo-Bomb in your pile you would like to restore. I have purchased many built kits for less than $10 that would otherwise cost me stupid money for an unbuilt kit. How do I Un-Assemble a gloo bomb and not destroy a bunch of parts? By accident I discovered something that allows me to tear down old kits built with tube glue. It is Testors Acryl dried paint solvent. I apply it to the joint same as if I was using liquid cement with a small brush. Give it a moment to soak and carefully pry away the part. I don't know what the stuff really is or why it works but it has helped me save a number of glued up kits I never thought I could save. It you have one of those heavily glued places where the builder used half a tube of glue, well, You just may be S O L as they say. It won't work miracles but does do a nice job. , it will soften the plastic some and it won't do your glass much good so work carefully. When done, give it a quick rinse in water and the process stops. I lately un built an old IMC Lola T-70 that was not built all that well. I saved every part except one--the seat. It had enough glue on the bottom to build the entire kit. If you try it and don't like it, it is still good for saving some brushes and cleaning just about any paint you can think of. Experiment. This stuff works guys.

Really good to know gloozalot! I too buy boxes of built glue bombs and breaking them down without breaking them to pieces is often a pain. This will be added to my arsenal. I would also add that sticking your glue bomb in the freezer for a day really helps! Like your deal, I'm not sure what the science of it all is or why it works but hard freezing an old glue bombs will make a lot of parts just "pop off" with very little pressure.

Right, David. I didn't mention the freezer method or soaking in the purple pond. I have tried all of them and sometimes use a combo of them. There are those times that some Hair-Brain Knot Head used the entire tube of LePages, Ross or Testors glue to do the build and that alone usually destroys your parts. This stuff lets you "Get to it" right now and what it won't de-bond, sometimes the freezer will. It has worked great for me but take your time and don't get too rough and you will save lots of parts. This is my go to method first and then the freezer. Usually, if all those don't work, you aint gonna save it!

I also found by accident the Easy Lift Off paint stripper from Testers /Floquil will not harm glass and will make stubborn glue joints literately fall apart . Testors F542143 Easy Lift-Off Paint Remover
