...... although his racing days are over, I would like to show you "Timmy", our 1948 English Ford Thames 1/4 ct. panel van. He was an old gasser that was rescued off the drag strips and after a 5-1/2 year frame off rebuild was turned into a street rod. We tried to keep him looking as much like an old '60's gasser as we could because that's exactly what he was.
The body is steel, with a Fiberglas Trends tilt nose. The rear doors are the factory aluminum. All the body fabrication and paint was done by Josh Richardson and the custom designed leather/cloth interior was stitched by Tim Scarlett.
It is powered by a 327 cubic inch small block out of a 1965 Corvette ........ double hump "fuelie" heads, Comp cam and kit, Pete Jackson gear drive, Hedman headers, and a custom shroud built by Alan Shadwick in New Zealand covering the 600cfm Edelbrock carburetor .............. it dyno'ed at 377 horsepower @ 5200 rpm ........ the engine is backed by a TurboHydro 350 with a B&M converter and clutches ............. the rear end is a 9" Ford holding a 3.50:1 gearset.
The body sits on a custom 90 inch wheelbase chassis built by Fatman Fabrications in Charlotte, NC. He has power discs in the front and power drums in the rear. The wheelie bars are not just cosmetic, as he will jump up on them if the throttle is hit too hard. However, the 10' Simpson Skyjacker chute is cosmetic, and is not hooked up any more.
The paint color is Chevrolet Aqua Blue Metallic , the wheels are ET slots from Team 3 wheels, 15x4 with a 1-3/4 inch backspace in the front and 15x12 with a 6-1/2 inch backspace in the rear, tires are 145R15 Michelins in the front and S375-60x15 Pro Tracs in the rear
The little car weighs 2,488 pounds and is really a kick to drive .............
