Before I was drafted in 67 I owned a 59 Impala sport coupe. I built this car like the one I owned. Only problem with this kit is it's an automatic and has power steering. Mine had a three speed on the tree and no power steering. So, I'm changing this car to represent my 59. Here are some pictures of what I'm doing. Dan

What's the story with the pedals? Is that the emergency/parking brake on the far left?

Yep, that's the emergency brake alright. The one beside it is the clutch that I had to add for the 3 speed trany. My 1:1 had the 3 speed in it and this kit has the automatic. So, I just had to change it. LOL.

Yeah, I had the new pedal all figured out. I had just never seen a kit with the emergency brake on it. Don't laugh. Remember that it's been almost 50 years since I actually built a kit. I still haven't completed a build since I got back into the hobby so obviously haven't run across any that have the emergency brake.
I will say that the kits in my stash that I have taken the time to peruse have MUCH more detail than I recall as a kid. I see that as a major improvement by the manufacturers. Then you skilled modeling guys do all your personal customizing and these scale cars just jump to life.
I'm looking forward to seeing your '59. My granddad had a '59 with 3 on the tree and a 6 cylinder. It was an unbelievable dog.
Keep us posted!

Well now, ya gotta get one done don't cha know. Sorry bout the dog. Mine was like a raped ape when it was put to the test sorta speakin. That thing would go perty good. One time the guys told me that I lifted the left front wheel off the ground just a tad bit. It would run. I beat a 64 Impala that the guy said that he had a 327/350 horse with a 4 speed. No match for my so called Pig motor with a 3 speed. He was shifting into 2nd gear while I was still in first. When I went to 2nd, I left him and he got real mad. So mad that his girl friend wouldn't look over at us at the next time we raced. Man, I really miss that car.

I found a 4 barrel for the 59. I robbed it from a 57 and the 57 gets the 3 deuces. Perty soon it will resemble my 1:1. Dan
