So yeah didn't get around to shooting those coats of paint till a couple of days ago. The good news is the hood and the body match. The bad news is I got a run in the paint on top of the right quarter panel. Some sanding took care of most of that but now more coats of paint are needed and I am out of that paint. Fortunately, I have some more coming from EvilBay and hopefully, I will be able to finish the paint this upcoming week. Looking forward to more progress and pics of the recovery paint work Eric.

Okay, so the repaint took some wind out of my sails. It just didn't quite turn out as I had hoped but I can still correct the paint without stripping it. Then my health took a bad turn and then I moved to a new home, a better home. I am still trying to rebuild my hobby area which is a little tough because I have lost a room again. I am once again in one room for my hobby area, my computing area and, my sleeping area. But this is a much better living situation than where I was.
I plan to continue with this project very soon. I hope that my posting this here will help motivate me to finish getting my workspace cleaned up and ready to use. I am doing much better health-wise and I am itching to do some building.

Paint is always the hardest part for me too. Even if I get it perfect, Ill scratch it on final assembly or ill mess up the window trim . on a few of my builds I seem to have a problem with just the hood so ive been painting them over flat black LOL
A lot of my models don't get finished because I flub the paint job . I have started on my last few builds by doing the bodywork and paint first and then trying to build up the rest after.
hope you feel better Mr E. and get back to building !

Well, as long as I am going to be repainting stuff I may as well paint the engine the right color too. The question is do I do it in blue or red, not orange but red. I have learned that many of the cars built at the L.A. plant had their engines painted red. Something I had wondered about for a while because almost every car I owned back then had a red engine and all were from '64 - '70. Well, I should say all of the ones with 6es or 273-318s. All of the 340's - 440's were either blue or orange depending on the year. But this one will be blue I suppose.

Good News Everyone !!!! So after the move to the new place I have finally started making progress on my work area. Even better I am getting back to model building. Here is the latest progress on this build.
The engine is now the right color for a '68 Mopar big block, and I have managed to get the air cleaner decal in place and it doesn't look to bad.

Okay, after seeing the pictures blown up this big, I can see a bunch of flaws that I missed before. I may take a step or 6 back and do some touch-up. The bleed-through on the console was a big surprise as is the huge missing chunk of chrome on the shifter. The grill needs to have a coat of flat black over the semi gloss which looks too shiny in the pics and there is a whole laundry list of stuff I am unhappy about now. LOL. And just for further frustration I dropped the hood and broke one of the hinges off. So backing up a bit and hoping I can get this thing apart without messing up the paint that I was finally happy with. I am getting was to used to replacing those damned hood hinges too. Thank god I am doing so many Super Stock Darts, I have plenty of spare hinges.

So I have decided to press on regardless, to hell with the flaws. So a progress update ... Got the decals on it and all of the trim painted, but I managed to knock out the drivers side back window. I had managed to knock out the passenger' side window twice and got glue on it. It looks okay on the shelf though so what the hell. I did manage to get the engine compartment mostly done, and I am very happy with the way it turned out. I got super lucky with how the air cleaner decal settled on. I even found the wiper motor which I had dropped on the floor. Well my roommate found it for me. Just have that damned side window to glue back in and to paint the windshield washer bottle and stick it in.
