Ok, not another Tin Indian this time. LOL. I built this 70 SS as the Red Alert. I converted it to an automatic and used the 70 SS like the real car. The shifter I got from cutting up the 77 Monti Carlo shifter and installing the automatic tranny. The 70 SS is one of my favorite cars. I had one with the 402 and four speed back in the 70's. Wish that I still had it too. I just realized that I don't have any finished pictures of this car.

Ya know 59, it scares me but you and I think alike. Well, really it should scare YOU that we do. I have this same pile of bits, along with the Van and Trailer to do up the set like the Team Kit released many years ago. I just don't have the box art. My Chevelle is not as far along as yours, its still a pile of crap in a box somewhere. From what you have posted up so far, the things you like must knot your panties up just like mine. Now I don't give a Rat's about the stuff of today but the old stuff causes me to not be sure if I should Fart or wind my watch. You just keep putting this stuff up and I'll keep Flippin' out. I'll be ok, my shrink told me I was normal.

Very nicely done. That 402 motor was mislabeled in everything except pickup trucks. Chevrolet continued to call it a 396 in the small cars, but then called it a Turbo-Jet 400 in full sized cars. And then for whatever reason, they actually labeled it as a 402 in pickup trucks. Go figure!
Great build, Dan.

Really nice looking build. Not sure if I would have wanted to pull up next to this one at a stoplight back in the day!

Thanks guys. Steve, I had a 1970 SS with the 402 4 speed. I went to tune it up once and was trying to find 396 stuff for it cause I thought it was a 396. But, that's when I found out that it was actually a 402. I looked and looked and what I found at first was in the books a 400 small block and a 400 big block. Later is when I found the 402 when I looked under the hood and found the 402 c.i. on the nomenclature plate on the radiator. I was Ok then. I tell ya, that car scared me once. I raced a guy from work one night and won, but, I have no clue of how fast I was going. The speedometer was bouncing off the peg. I was well over 125 mph fer sure. Never again did I do that. It was fun though. (smiling)
I believe that this car (the Red Alert) was a 454 c.i. car though.
