Nice work. Do you do anything special to add carpet "texture" to the new floorboard, or do you just put whatever flocking material you use down? Thanks Steve. I really don't know exactly how I'm going to handle this right now. There's no carpet on this one so I'll do a bare floor board of some sort. Still thinking on that one...... As far as when I do carpet I usually brush white glue down over a painted (interior color) floor and just sprinkle the flocking down and press. The only thing with flocking is that you've got to be careful not to turn the interior upside down which means you'd better have all the work done to the chassis that you're gonna get done by the time you install the interior for the final time because all of that stuff usually winds up on the roof and all over the seats. lololol. I had to finish my General Lee chassis like it was up on a lift.

I've been haggling over the tires for the last couple of days and after conversing with Ted Bowe from Ted's Modeling Marketplace back and forth through emails, going through photo shots and doing ALOT of measuring and head scratching I've come up with a new set of slicks that I'm going to use for this thing. Additionally I was concerned with how the front ride height was going to be but once I test fitted everything into place...…….it pretty much fell into place. I might go just a tad lower in the front but I'm pretty happy that I don't have to do much here as this has been quite the gaggle in the way of mods on this car. This is the way this car is going to look now and it seems like it's a lot closer to the reference photos that I have of this car. Now I've just gotta score a Goodyear decal sheet to put the scripts onto the tires. Let's re-visit that reference shot: Updated parts and stance: Which is a FAAAAAAAR cry from where I had it:

It looks like a lot better combination of tires/wheels.

To replicate the texture of rubber floor mats, I use Ambroid or Plastruck liquid cement with a short 1/4 inch diameter very stiff brush. I put a liberal (wet) coating of the glue down in about a 1x1 inch area. Than I take the stiff brush and Stipple the glue area until is starts to set up to get the texture. If you over texture it just brush on a light coat of glue to "flatten it" down a bit. U originally got this tip to use on armor lits to give a cast look to parts. I'd try it on the old floor to get the method down pat. Here's some tank turret pics of the method. Paul

Hmmm, I wonder how well that would work to create a vinyl top?

The seam lines are a challenge. Top on AMT Nova ,Duster and the halo top on R/T both done with the stipple glue method.

Oh, Kewl! I think strip styrene would work for the seams and the chrome trim.
Just do the trim after the stipple.

Thanks fellas. That's some good stuff with the texturing. Thanks Paul! Ok gang....I managed to get the wheels coated in Molotow and the tires all decaled and completed. I didn't use the front wheels with the Molotow on them in the following pictures because this stuff has a minimum cure out of 48 hours. The rears I could handle somewhat because of the dish in the wheels but here's where we're at right now with the wheels/ tires. and then I found my headers that are going to give me the perfect clearance. I just cut the flanges off of them and modified the header extensions on the Jo-Han headers to match up with the headers and we're all set. Another major hurdle of this build overcome.

Great progress! I really like this one even though I am not a Ford guy. Thanks Eric. LOL! Honestly.....there aint too many Ford products that I am very interested in which is why you'll see me building Chevy's, Dodges, Plymouth's, and even a Willys or two from time to time. BUT....I do have an eye for good looking cars as well no matter who the manufacturer is. They are as follows in order of faves to least faves: 1. ANY 55-56 Ford F-100. These are just beautiful trucks 2. Mavericks. Just always like the simplicity of these. 3. Older Mustangs that are actually fast. Not the old convertibles or six cylinder ones. Stuff that would get the job done. 4. 427 Cobras 5. GT-40's 6. Late 80's/ Early 90's Fox Body Mustang Coupes. I know......I know . But I owned one and made a VERY fast car out of it. Gotta build at least one of these.

Thanks fellas! Well gang....progress at last. Here she is in the primer stage: and after I let that all dry out I hit it with color (Tamiya Pure Red dispensed from the can and shot through the AB) the next day. Didn't have to do ANY sanding to the primer coat.
