Did some work in the new work room over the weekend, installed a new LED suspended light-bar. Much better than the old fluorescent I had where I used to live.
Had to create a rear axle using a cut down housing from my parts bin that looks correct and some Evergreen stock. Going to use the rear wheels from the Polar Lights Barracuda kit and rear tires from the spare parts box. Just can't find the correct front wheels for this project so I'll have to keep looking.
While I was digging thru my kits for possible donor parts I noticed that the Revell "Miss Deal"funny car has TWO separate BRAKE pedals and master cylinders. Love the old school drag cars!

Thanx 41chevy...
Ive got those K.S.Pittman parts in my stash but the front tires/wheels are too wide.
Those parts pack fronts look perfect but can't find out the size.
Anyone have them on hand to measure?
Also, while building the rear end I'm wondering Should I center the pumpkin or the prop-shaft ?

Did some more work on the rear end, have got to find some appropriate wire to make some coil springs. Ladder bars are from the Polar Lights Tom McEwen Barracuda Funny Car kit, can't remember where the center section came from but I had to modify all these parts. No wheelie bars on this version of the car.

Try florist wire from a craft shop It's used for making fake flower stems. Bends fairly easy and holds it's shape. Both Michaels and Hobby Lobby carry it, might even try Wally's World.

I wonder what gage wire would look the most scale-ish ? Have you got those AMT front Gasser wheels/tires on hand? I'd really like to know the dimensions.

Can't tell on the wheels , I can't find where they are put away so I could find them... but they are the exact same wheels and tires from the AMT Malco Willys kit.Front tires are 1/4 inch or a bit smaller in width.
The wire I use is called Stem Wire and it's 20 gauge about $3.50 for 30 pieces 18 inch long pieces. Michael's, Hobby Lobby and Wal Mart all carry it.

I've gotten various gauges of wire at Walmart, Michael's, AC Moore and Radio Shack.
The right diameters are good for fuel lines, brake lines, springs and more.
Just wrap some wire around a screw to follow the threads and you should be good to go for springs.

Ive thought about getting one of those AMT Malco kits so might as well do it now. Ive got a slue of those Blue Streak rear slicks but they just don't fit anything I build lately. That Willys kit has always looked cool to me, just never built one before. There is probably lots of great parts in that kit to raid also

Get 2 it's a great parts kit and a neat old gasser! you'll like it , If I remember correctly they were moulded in a cool light blue color originally. I just did another mock-up of the car today and Dang-it if I don't have to move the front crossmember forward about .160". This is going to take some careful surgery.

Still working on this but I have to say it is getting to the point that I might have to switch gears. The lack of available sources for correct decals and engine parts is a setback. Still going to finish it but am thinking it would display better if I build it as a generic or phantom car. Maybe swapping out the wedge for a 427 sohc. They did run them w/c6 transmissions Back in the day. 70sprostockfan... I did order two of those Willys kits, got a fairly good deal on Ebay

Cant believe it myself but after searching for a year for these decals I finally found a source from someone on another modeling forum. Also a correct hood for the car. So, I guess its back to the original plan, still looking for some engine parts that I can be doctored up to look like the Algon ones.

Algon injectors and short stacks come in the Revell Anglia and the Revell Thames Van. I may have a full set. I'll look tomorrow.
